Gate-side caffeine fix at CUZ before an early Cusco departure

Illy Caffè sits airside in Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport, after security in the main departures hall. It runs through the daytime flight bank, roughly from early morning check-in around 5:00 to late-afternoon departures when the last LIM and LPB flights go out. So this is your realistic coffee stop once you’ve dropped bags and cleared security, not a pre-check-in option.

Prices sit in typical airport territory: expect to pay around S/12–S/18 for an espresso, macchiato, or cappuccino, and a bit more for larger milk drinks. Pastries and small snacks usually land in the S/10–S/20 range, depending on what’s left from the morning batch. It’s not cheap by Cusco city standards, but it lines up with what you see at Lima and other Peruvian airports.

Coffee here uses Illy-branded beans, so your espresso, americano, or latte will taste closer to what you’d get in a European chain than a random kiosk in town. Go straight for an espresso or cappuccino if you care about flavor; the syrups and heavily sweetened drinks can drown the coffee and feel a bit sticky at 10,860 feet. If they have fresh croissants out within the first couple of morning flights, that’s usually the safest food bet.

There’s limited seating right by the counter, maybe a dozen chairs and a few small tables, and it fills fast around the 7:00–9:00 departure wave. Power outlets are scarce here, so don’t plan a long laptop session. Turnover is quick, and most people grab a paper cup and head for gates serving Lima, Arequipa, and international connections.

Practical tip: if your boarding time is within 25 minutes, order drinks in takeaway cups and walk them straight to your gate; service can slow when two or three flights are boarding at once.
