KFC

T2 ★ 3.8

Near the T2 domestic gates, KFC is the default fallback.

This KFC sits in Terminal T2 at Chengdu Shuangliu, handy if your China Eastern or Sichuan Airlines flight departs from the newer terminal. It’s post-security, so you can eat after clearing checks and still watch the departure screens. Rating hovers around 3.8 stars online, which tracks with expectations: recognizable food, nothing special, rarely terrible.

Pricing runs a bit higher than street-side Chengdu branches; think roughly 45–65 RMB for a combo with chicken, fries, and a drink. Breakfast hours usually start around 6:00, with the normal fried chicken menu taking over late morning and running through the last evening departures. The menu board is mostly in Chinese, but combo numbers are clearly marked, and staff are used to pointing out the standard sets.

Local twists show up here: look for spicy chicken options and rice-based sets alongside the usual burgers and wings. If you’re unsure, a “family bucket” style box feeds two people for under 120 RMB and is easy to share at the table clusters near the counter. Fries come salted fairly heavily, and drink refills are not automatic, so expect to pay again if you want more soda.

Lines spike around the top-of-the-hour departure banks, especially between 11:30 and 13:30 and again from 18:00 onwards. Seating fills quickly, but turnover is fast since most people eat in under 20 minutes. Service pace varies: you might get your tray in under 5 minutes during lull periods, but plan for 10–15 minutes when the queue wraps toward the concourse.

Practical tip: check your gate number before ordering, then sit on the concourse side of the seating area facing the departure screens so you can move quickly if T2 shuffles your flight to a far end gate at the last minute.
