Departing only: Royal Lounge won’t take arriving passengers

At New Chitose International Terminal, Royal Lounge works strictly as a contract lounge for departing international flights, not as an arrivals or pay-in option. Social threads quote staff telling people “no” even if they offer to pay as economy or arriving passengers, so treat this as departure-only space tied to your boarding pass and status.

The lounge sits airside in the International Terminal after security and immigration, used by several carriers for premium-cabin and elite flyers on outbound flights from CTS. There’s no Royal Silk-branded space here, and commenters explicitly confirm that Thai passengers don’t get a dedicated Thai Airways lounge at New Chitose, just this shared Royal Lounge setup if they qualify.

Entry runs on airline invitations and status rules printed on your international ticket, so an economy passenger without the right card doesn’t get in, even if they’ve just flown eight hours into CTS and want a shower. Facebook replies spell it out: “Not for economy passengers and also not arriving passengers,” which surprises people expecting a typical pay-at-the-desk lounge model.

Because there’s no arrivals access, anyone landing on a long-haul into CTS International and connecting to Domestic has to freshen up in public restrooms or use paid shower options in the terminal instead of Royal Lounge. That nuance matters if you planned to shower between, say, a late-night Seoul–CTS leg and a morning domestic hop to Tokyo or Osaka.

Complaints online cluster around this access setup rather than the food or seating, with multiple commenters saying they were “caught out” when they tried to head for Royal Lounge after landing and were turned away. The consistent message across that Facebook thread: this lounge is useless for a post-flight snack or drink if your boarding pass is already used and you’ve cleared arrivals.

Practical tip: if you want lounge time at CTS, schedule it before your international departure, not after arrival, and confirm with your specific airline beforehand that your cabin or status actually lists Royal Lounge as an option printed on your boarding pass.
