Gate-side snacks near Terminal A departures

Scirocco sits airside in Terminal A at Catania–Fontanarossa, a few minutes’ walk from the main Schengen gates. It’s a basic food counter, not a sit-down restaurant, so you’re grabbing and going rather than parking for an hour-long meal.

Opening hours track the morning wave of flights, with Scirocco usually active from around 05:00 until late evening departures in Terminal A. If you land on a first-bank arrival from Rome or Milan, it’s one of the first food options you see after security.

Expect standard airport pricing: coffee and soft drinks sit in the €2–€4 range, simple sandwiches and pastries push closer to €5–€8. You pay a little more than downtown Catania, but it’s in line with other food spots in CTA.

Scirocco leans heavily on snacks, pre-made panini, and packaged items, so this is more “hold-you-over” food than a local Sicilian highlight. If you want anything like a real meal, plan to eat in Catania city first and treat this as a backup before your Terminal A flight.

Post-security layout at Catania can feel cramped around A-gates, and Scirocco’s counter is small, so queues jump quickly when a couple of A320s board at the same time. Figure on 10–15 minutes in line during morning peaks.

Tip: grab water and a snack at Scirocco right after security in Terminal A; once you walk down to the end gates, options thin out fast.
