Gate-side in Terminal A, La terrazza sits near the main food court.
La terrazza sits airside in Terminal A at Catania-Fontanarossa, a short walk from several Schengen gates. It’s a basic café-bar setup: counter service, a few tables, and high turnover during the morning rush. Expect standard airport pricing, with espresso around €1.50–€2.00 and soft drinks closer to €3–€4.
Food leans toward quick bites: pastries, simple sandwiches, and packaged snacks. Most items are pre-made to keep lines moving, so you’re in and out in under 10–15 minutes even before peak departures to Rome or Milan. Portions run on the smaller side, so budget for two pieces if you’re actually hungry.
Drinks are the stronger play here. Coffee is pulled on a proper machine behind the bar, and a macchiato hits the table in under two minutes. You’ll also see cold bottled drinks and basic spirits for a fast pre-flight spritz or beer, though expect to pay €6–€8 for alcohol in Terminal A.
Service depends on timing: during the 06:00–09:00 wave, staff focus on speed; after lunch, they’re more relaxed and may let you linger at the tables closer to the concourse windows. Seating is limited, so during busy Ryanair and ITA Airways banks you may end up standing at the counter.
Tip: If your gate is in the higher A20s, stop at La terrazza before you walk down the longer pier; options thin out quickly past the central food area.
