Gate-side caffeine stop in Terminal A
By the time you reach Terminal A security at Catania (CTA), Cafe’s is one of the first food counters you see on the airside concourse. It’s a straightforward Italian bar setup: standing counter for a fast espresso, a few small tables, and a display of pastries and sandwiches. Expect the usual airport markup, but prices stay roughly in line with city bars near the station.
Opening hours generally track morning departures out of Terminal A, so you’ll usually find Cafe’s operating from around the first flights until early evening. Coffee runs in the €1–2 range for espresso and macchiato, with cappuccino a bit more. Pastries, simple panini, and bottled drinks give you just enough to fill a gap between Catania–Rome shuttles or low-cost flights to Milan and beyond.
Food is standard counter fare: cornetti, pre-made sandwiches, and packaged snacks, better than grabbing only chips from a newsstand but not something to plan a long sit-down meal around. Service is geared to people boarding flights from the A-gates in 20–40 minutes, so orders move quickly and you’ll usually be out again in under 10 minutes.
Tip: if you care about coffee temperature and foam, stand at the bar and drink your espresso or cappuccino on the spot; it tends to taste better than if you let it sit in a to-go cup on the walk to your gate in Terminal A.
