R150 per day gets you Shade Parking next to CPT’s terminal

Shade Parking in Car Parks 3 and 4 sits on-airport next to the main Cape Town terminal, about a 5-minute walk to both Domestic and International check-in. It’s classed as remote parking, but still on airport property, so you park, lock, and walk straight to departures with no shuttle timing to stress about.

Rates sit at a flat daily R150, with the official tariff showing a cap of about R270 for 6–24 hours and roughly R490 per day after that. That undercuts the P1 and P2 parkades by around R95–R110 per day while still giving you shade rather than leaving the car in full Cape Town sun. For a 3-day trip you’re saving a few hundred rand versus the multistorey.

Both Car Park 3 and Car Park 4 fall under the same shaded pricing and use the same central pay stations on departure. You take a standard ticket at the entrance boom, keep it with you, and pay at the machines before driving out. The walk from these shaded bays to the terminal concourse is roughly 5 minutes on foot with a roll-aboard, as several reviewers note.

Regular CPT flyers say they target Shade Parking in 3 or 4 for trips of around 2–4 days, picking it over the dedicated Long Stay because the walk is shorter while the cost stays well below the parkades. One Hotel Verde guest mentioned it “wasn’t as close as the parkade but fine for a roll-aboard,” which lines up with the posted 5-minute walk time.

Watch out for: during South African school holidays, reviews mention Car Parks 3 and 4 can be near full, so you might spend an extra 10–15 minutes hunting for a bay even though the actual distance to the terminal is short.

Tip: aim for Car Park 3 first when you enter, and if it looks busy, roll straight to Car Park 4 rather than circling the same aisles and burning time.
