ATU Duty Free

T2

Liquor and perfume prices show in euros at this T2 duty free

ATU Duty Free sits airside in Terminal T2 international departures, just past passport control, and lines one side of the main walkthrough with shelves of alcohol, tobacco and cosmetics. Almost every price tag shows € amounts instead of Moroccan dirhams, which throws locals and long‑stay visitors who are still thinking in MAD. Expect standard big‑brand whisky, vodka and cognac plus global perfume names, not much in the way of niche labels.

Most flyers hit this shop after security for a last pass at alcohol and perfume before EU or Gulf flights, but regulars say the deals rarely beat buying in Casablanca city. One blogger compared liquor and cosmetics here against in‑town stores and called duty free “not the deal” they hoped for, especially on mid‑range spirits where savings were a few euros at best. Tobacco cartons are more in line with typical international duty‑free pricing, but still not a steal.

A YouTube walkthrough flags another quirk: staff at ATU and nearby shops sometimes refuse Moroccan dirham for non‑Moroccan products, asking instead for card, euros or other foreign currency. That catches people with 100–200 MAD left in notes and coins who planned to zero out their cash on chocolate or perfume. Card terminals usually work, but queues spike around evening departure banks when several long‑haul flights push off within 60–90 minutes.

What regulars do: buy main alcohol or perfume in Casablanca, then use ATU Duty Free only as backup for forgotten gifts or a single bottle. If you still want something here, walk the whole liquor wall once, compare two or three brands, and check the euro sticker against your home prices before committing.

Tip: arrive in T2 with at least one working card and, if you care about value, a quick price check in your notes app; don’t plan on clearing out leftover dirhams on imported booze or cosmetics at this shop.
