$9 a day is the cheapest on-airport parking at CHO

Economy Parking sits about 0.5 miles from Terminal T and runs $9.00 per day, making it the budget move if you’re leaving the car longer than a quick overnight. It’s the outer section of the main parking area, basically the “back lot” reviewers mention when they say they saved money but still had only a short walk to the building.

The lot is remote but walkable: figure about a 10-minute walk from the far rows to the terminal doors, or roughly a 2-minute ride on the CHO Connector shuttle. The shuttle loops through all posted stops, including the Economy area, so with heavy bags you can just wait at a shelter instead of dragging a roller the full 0.5 miles.

Economy at CHO is fully automated and credit-card–only at the exit gate, just like Short-Term and Long-Term. If you absolutely need to use cash, you have to pay at the pay-on-foot machine in baggage claim inside Terminal T before driving out. Regulars keep a spare travel card in the glovebox or tap a contactless card or phone at the gate to keep the exit quick.

You still get the airport’s 30-minute free parking window in Economy, which applies to all public pay lots at CHO. That can help if the closer lots look jammed and you’re just running inside to meet someone or do a curbside pickup; park in Economy, hop the shuttle for 2 minutes, and roll back out within the half hour.

Watch out for the signage: some drivers say it’s not obvious which section is actually Economy and have ended up in the closer, higher-priced rows by mistake. As you enter, keep driving toward the far side of the combined lots, past the first open spaces, and look for the Economy signs instead of following the early rows everyone else dives into.

Tip: On arrival, snap a quick photo of your row sign in the back lot before you walk or catch the shuttle; it saves a slow loop around 0.5 miles of pavement at midnight trying to spot your car.
