Most cars here are parking on Koru or Elite vouchers, not cash

Valet Parking at Christchurch (CHC) is the premium option right by Terminal T, but the NZ$60 per day headline rate means most locals only touch it when a Koru or Elite voucher is paying. Drop-off is on the terminal frontage near the main departures doors, so you’re talking a 1–2 minute walk into check-in once you hand over the keys.

This is an Air New Zealand–linked valet product, tied into the Koru and Elite voucher system that many CHC regulars collect each year. One FlyerTalk member admitted they sat on free valet tickets for two years before finally using them and found the process “easy” once they tried it. Another poster reports routinely using “valet parking vouchers” at CHC instead of paying the walk-up NZ$60 daily rate.

The trick: vouchers are flexible. In Koru discussions, flyers say they use these valet or covered-parking vouchers even when flying airlines other than Air New Zealand, and sometimes gift them to family. Behind the scenes, Auckland and Wellington use the airport’s own parking system to process vouchers, and CHC is widely assumed to run the same backend, so the staff are used to scanning elite coupons rather than taking card payment.

Value is the main complaint. One Koru member flatly said they avoid paying out of pocket for valet and only use the included vouchers, given cheaper regular parking options at CHC. A common pattern: hold the vouchers for a “big” trip, then decide valet is worth folding into the routine for early-morning departures once you’ve used it once.

Tip: If you have Koru or Elite valet vouchers, pre-pack them in the glovebox and treat NZ$60 per day as the mental line where you’d switch back to standard parking if you ever run out.
