Lufthansa Business Lounge

Cologne/Bonn Airport, Terminal 1, Cologne, DE

Only two Star Alliance lounges sit in CGN Terminal 1, and this is the Lufthansa Business Lounge most people with a Lufthansa business ticket or Star Alliance status end up in. It sits airside in Terminal 1, in the main Lufthansa zone, and acts as the default waiting room for most Star Alliance departures from this terminal.

The lounge is an airline-operated space inside Terminal 1, past security, so you need a same-day boarding pass for a Lufthansa or Star Alliance flight from CGN to get in. Access usually comes with a Lufthansa business-class ticket, Miles & More Frequent Traveller or higher, or Star Alliance Gold; check your exact status rules before you bank on it. With only this and the Lufthansa Senator Lounge in the terminal, capacity can feel tight on morning bank departures.

Expect the standard Lufthansa Business Lounge template: seating zones, self-service food counters, and a drinks station, all positioned near the main Lufthansa gates in Terminal 1. You’ll typically find light snacks rather than full meals, so eat properly in the terminal if you need something more substantial before a long-haul connection via FRA or MUC. Power outlets sit along many wall seats, so pick a spot against the side if you need to charge a laptop before a 2–3 hour flight.

Drinks follow the typical Lufthansa mix: coffee machines, tea, soft drinks, and a basic selection of beer and wine, usually laid out on a central counter. Food runs to cold cuts, bread, and small hot items that rotate during the day, so think more “pre-flight nibble” than full restaurant substitute. If you have a tight 45-minute window before boarding at a nearby A or B gate in Terminal 1, this lounge works fine for a drink and a snack, not a full sit-down meal.

There are no widely reported deal-breaker complaints about this space, and detailed independent reviews are surprisingly thin given its role for Lufthansa at CGN. That in itself is a hint: it does its job, but nobody flies to Cologne for this lounge. Use it to charge, grab Wi‑Fi, and get a seat away from the main Terminal 1 concourse before your Lufthansa or Star Alliance flight.

Tip: if you care about quieter seating, aim to arrive outside the morning wave of 06:00–09:00 Lufthansa departures from Terminal 1, when both the Business and Senator lounges can get crowded.
