Tickets from about 80–120 EGP buy you a Super Jet seat

Super Jet runs intercity coaches between Cairo International Airport (CAI) and cities like Alexandria, Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, and Suez, usually a few times per day on each route. Buses don’t pull up at the terminal door; you’re typically going to meet them at Super Jet stations in Cairo, so plan a taxi or airport shuttle handoff from Terminal 1, 2, 3, or the Seasonal Terminal.

The big Super Jet terminals in Cairo sit in Almaza, Nasr City, and sometimes Tahrir or Giza, so from CAI you’re looking at roughly a 15–40 minute taxi ride depending on traffic on Salah Salem Street. Standard coach fares on main routes like Cairo–Alexandria or Cairo–Hurghada usually land between 80 and 250 EGP one way, with higher prices on overnight or “business” services.

Coach timings matter: a Cairo–Alexandria run can be around 3 hours, Cairo–Hurghada often 6–7 hours, and Cairo–Sharm El Sheikh roughly 7–8 hours, traffic and checkpoints depending. Super Jet timetables change often, so always confirm same-day times at the station or by phone instead of trusting a blog from 2022.

Seats are standard 2–2 intercity coach seats, usually with AC and overhead reading lights, but don’t count on power outlets or reliable onboard Wi‑Fi even on newer buses. For overnight legs like Cairo–Luxor or Cairo–Hurghada, pack a battery bank and a light jacket; AC on Egyptian coaches can feel like 18 °C at 3 a.m.

Buying tickets works three ways: in person at Super Jet stations, via some local online aggregators, or occasionally through hotel/travel desks that add a small service fee of around 10–30 EGP. At the station, bring cash in Egyptian pounds; card terminals are hit-or-miss and often offline in the evening after 20:00.

Step-by-step from CAI to a Super Jet station

  • 1. Land at Terminal 1, 2, 3, or Seasonal and clear immigration and customs; this can take 30–60 minutes depending on arrival bank.
  • 2. Withdraw cash from an airport ATM in arrivals; pull at least 500–700 EGP to cover the taxi and ticket.
  • 3. Walk to the official taxi or ride-hail pickup outside your terminal; avoid anyone quoting a “fixed” 400+ EGP fare to town without a meter.
  • 4. Give the driver the exact Super Jet station name, for example “Mahattet Super Jet Almaza” in Heliopolis; confirm they understand before you leave CAI.
  • 5. At the station, go to the Super Jet window with city and time in mind, for example “Alexandria, 14:00” and buy your seat; keep the paper ticket on hand for the platform check.
  • 6. Board at least 10–15 minutes before departure so your luggage goes in the hold without a rush; tag your suitcase with your name and mobile number.

One tip: if your flight lands after 21:00, treat the last Super Jet departure of the night like a hard cutoff and have a backup plan, like staying near CAI and taking a morning coach.
