Upstairs above Terminal 2B’s non‑Schengen gates, Platinum Lounge 2B is mainly a seat-and-snacks stop for oneworld and Priority Pass flyers.
This is the non‑Schengen twin of the Platinum Lounge in 2A, sitting one level up from the main 2B concourse. Airlines like British Airways and other oneworld carriers send premium and status passengers here, and most bank and Priority Pass‑style cards with BUD access also route you to this space. Think contract lounge, not flagship hub.
The layout is small for a non‑Schengen lounge and can feel tight around peak departure waves for banks like the evening BA and other Western Europe departures. Seating is mostly armchairs and basic tables, arranged in rows rather than private pods. Power outlets exist but not at every seat, so if you spot a free socket, take it immediately.
Food is limited: expect cold cuts, basic pastries, crisps, and maybe one or two hot trays that empty quickly during the 17:00–20:00 push. FlyerTalk users consistently call the catering “average” and say there’s no real upgrade versus the Schengen Platinum Lounge. If you want a real meal, eat downstairs in the terminal and treat this lounge as a snack stop only.
Drinks are more reliable than the food. You’ll usually find self‑serve soft drinks, a couple of beers, and a short shelf of spirits, plus a basic coffee machine. Nothing top‑shelf, but it beats paying airport bar prices for a 1,500–2,000 HUF soda or beer. Glassware and cups sometimes run low during busy banks, so grab what you need on the first pass.
Wi‑Fi runs off the airport network and is generally fine for email, messaging, and light streaming, around the 10–20 Mbps mark in most user tests. Regulars on FlyerTalk say they arrive only 45–60 minutes ahead of boarding, enough time to download content, charge a phone to 80%, and have a drink before heading to passport control and the non‑Schengen gates.
Watch out for crowding when multiple non‑Schengen flights to London, the UK regions, and the Middle East leave within the same 60‑minute window; seats can be hard to find and hot food disappears fast. One last tip: use the restroom in the lounge before you head back downstairs, because queues near the 2B non‑Schengen gates can build close to departure time.
