SkyCourt card lounge that mainly exists as a perk
In Terminal 2’s SkyCourt, the Mastercard Airport Lounge sits on the upper level as a card-access space that feels more like a checkbox benefit than a destination. If you already hold an eligible Mastercard, it’s an easy "free" stop before Schengen departures, but paid walk-up access usually isn’t great value compared with other contract lounges in Budapest.
The lounge is airside in Terminal 2, above the main SkyCourt plaza and roughly a 3–5 minute walk from most Schengen gates in 2A. Opening hours generally track the morning and evening bank of flights, with first arrivals around 05:00 and closing near the last Schengen departures around 21:00–22:00, but hours move with the schedule so check your app on the day.
Access is via mid- to high-tier Mastercards that include lounge benefits, often with a set number of free entries per year and then a charge of around €20–€30 per extra visit. Some banks also let you bring one guest for free; others bill guests at the same €20+ rate, so confirm the MCC charge rules on your specific card before handing it over at the front desk.
Inside, expect standard contract-lounge furniture: rows of armchairs, low tables, and a few bar-height spots, with maybe 60–80 seats total. Power outlets are scattered but not at every seat, and most are European 230 V sockets, so bring an adapter if your kit is on UK or US plugs. Wi‑Fi runs on the airport network with the same SSID you’ll see downstairs in SkyCourt, and speeds sit in the 10–30 Mbps range when it’s busy.
Food is basic cold buffet: sandwiches, packaged snacks, and light bites that work for a quick pre‑flight snack but not a real meal, with coffee from an automatic machine and soft drinks from a fridge. Beer and local wine usually show up on a self‑serve counter, but spirits are limited and rarely premium, so don’t plan your one good pálinka stop here.
Practical tip: if you also have Priority Pass or airline status that gets you into another BUD lounge, walk past SkyCourt first, check crowding at the other options near Terminal 2A and 2B gates, and only use the Mastercard Airport Lounge when it’s the least busy or your card makes it truly free.
