Emeralds International

T1

Across from several T1 boarding gates, Emeralds International focuses on Colombian emerald jewelry and loose stones right inside El Dorado’s main international terminal. You’ll find it airside in Terminal T1, so you don’t need to exit security to browse. The shop leans almost entirely into emeralds and gold pieces, with prices that can jump quickly from small silver-set stones under USD 100 to serious investment pieces well into four figures.

The staff in T1 usually switch between Spanish and English without fuss and will bring out certification documents for higher-priced emeralds on request. Expect bright display cases, strong lighting, and a lot of close-up viewing with loupes, especially if you’re comparing stones over USD 300. They also carry some ready-to-go gifts like simple pendants and stud earrings that work as under-USD-200 souvenirs when you’re short on time between long-haul flights.

Emeralds International in Terminal T1 trades on location, so pricing won’t beat specialist shops in Bogotá’s jewelry districts, but you’re paying for security, authenticity paperwork, and being inside the airport bubble. Haggling is softer here than downtown, yet you can sometimes nudge a bit on items over COP 1,000,000, especially if you’re buying more than one piece. If you’re serious about color and clarity, ask to compare stones under the same light and step back from the counter glare.

One practical tip: factor at least 20 minutes in T1 if you’re planning a real purchase, including time to check certificates, process a card payment, and fill out any tax or customs paperwork. If your layover in Terminal T1 is under an hour, this is better for quick window-shopping and small gifts than a major emerald buy.
