Coaches leave Brisbane Airport for the Gold Coast from about 6am
Sunbus/SkyBus runs a direct coach link from Brisbane International and Domestic terminals down to the Gold Coast, so you ride straight from the airport to resort and suburb stops without swapping trains. Services typically start around 6:00 and run into the evening, timed around flight banks rather than exact clockface intervals.
The coach stops outside both the International and Domestic terminals, signed as SkyBus Gold Coast, so you just walk out to the coach bays and look for the red SkyBus branding. It’s a single-level coach service with luggage space underneath, so full-size suitcases go in the hold and you keep a small bag in the cabin.
Tickets usually sit in the AUD $30–$50 range one way depending on how far down the Gold Coast you’re going, with Surfers Paradise generally cheaper than Broadbeach or further south. You can book online in advance or buy on the spot from the driver or kiosk, but online often locks in the lower price on busier days like Fridays and Sundays.
Most services run roughly every 60–90 minutes through the middle of the day, with tighter spacing around peak arrival times from Asia and New Zealand. The run from the International terminal to Surfers Paradise commonly takes around 90 minutes, but peak-hour traffic on the M1 can add another 20–30 minutes, especially between 4pm and 6pm.
The coach calls at several main Gold Coast areas such as Southport, Surfers Paradise, and Broadbeach, so check the stop list before paying. If you’re staying outside those zones, factor in a secondary hop on the G:link tram or a short rideshare from stops like Surfers Paradise North or Broadbeach South, which both sit within about 500–700 metres of many hotels.
Seats are unreserved, first-come-first-served, and the coaches do fill up after big wide-body arrivals like an A350 or 787 bank between 8am and 10am. If you’re landing in that window, aim for a departure at least 45 minutes after scheduled arrival to clear immigration and bags at the International terminal.
One tip: check your exact flight arrival time against the Sunbus/SkyBus timetable and always pick a coach at least one departure later than you think you need; building in that extra 30–45 minutes beats sprinting through arrivals with luggage.
