Rideshare Service

Rideshare

Rideshare Varies

Lyft, Uber, Ola and DiDi all pick up at BNE

From Brisbane International, rideshare pick-up sits on Level 1 at the arrivals end, and most trips into the CBD run 20–35 minutes outside peak traffic. You request the car in the app, then follow signs for “Rideshare” rather than “Taxis” or “Buses,” which sit closer to the main forecourt.

At the Domestic terminal, rideshare pick-up zones sit near both Qantas and Virgin ends, and the 14 km run to the city usually prices between AUD $35–$55 before surge. Drivers use the public drop-off/pick-up lanes, so you stand kerbside and watch the car icon inch toward your pin.

How to book and meet your driver

  • 1. Open Uber, Ola, DiDi or Lyft the moment you reach Level 1 Arrivals or the Domestic forecourt so the GPS pins you at the right terminal.
  • 2. Enter “Brisbane Airport” and then set the destination (for example, “Brisbane City” or a hotel on Ann Street) and check the ETA and fare estimate, usually shown in AUD with an upfront price.
  • 3. Select the size you need: a standard sedan fits 3–4 people, while larger options like UberXL handle up to 5–6 with luggage, though four checked-size bags already fill a regular boot.
  • 4. Confirm the pick-up point as “International Terminal Rideshare Pick-up” or “Domestic Terminal Rideshare Pick-up,” then walk to the signed zone; it’s about a 2–4 minute walk from baggage claim at International.
  • 5. Match the license plate and car model in the app before opening the door, then check that the driver has your name and destination correct before you pull away.

Timing, pricing and a few quirks

Peak-hour rides from BNE to the CBD can stretch to 45–55 minutes, especially 7:00–9:00 and 16:00–18:00 on weekdays, and dynamic pricing can add 30–60% to the base fare. Late nights after 22:00 see faster drive times but thinner driver supply, so ETAs in the app can jump from 3 minutes to 15 minutes quickly.

International arrivals who land around 6:00–8:00 often spend 30–40 minutes clearing immigration and baggage, so don’t request the car until your bag is in hand. For Domestic flights, it’s tighter: most people walk from gate to kerb in 10–15 minutes, so ordering as you exit the aircraft bridge usually syncs nicely with a 5–8 minute ETA.

One practical tip: if surge pricing looks ugly, check the cost to Skygate or Toombul by rideshare first, then compare a second rideshare leg into the city; occasionally splitting the trip trims AUD $10–$15 at heavy-traffic times.

Watch out for
  • Not checking the app for the correct pick-up location.
