Gate-side last-minute souvenirs at Australian Way
Australian Way sits airside in Brisbane International, just past passport control, and works as the airport’s main souvenir stop before long-haul departures. You’ll see the kangaroo logos before the big duty free in the departures area. It leans heavily into Australian-made gifts: packaged snacks, locally themed T-shirts, soft toys, and small bottles of skincare from national brands, all within a standard airport “news & gifts” footprint.
Expect airport pricing: magnets and keyrings around AUD 7–12, basic T-shirts in the AUD 30–40 range, and gift-pack chocolates starting near AUD 10. Compared with the big duty free downstairs, this feels tighter but easier to scan in a 10–15 minute gate check. Staff usually ring things up fast enough that you’re not stuck more than five minutes in line, even when an A380 flight is boarding.
Hours roughly mirror international departures, with Australian Way typically open from early-morning bank (around 5:00) through the late-night long-haul wave after 22:00. Stock skews touristy: plush koalas and kangaroos, “Brisbane” caps, clip-on koala pens, plus Tim Tams and other branded biscuits you can toss in a carry-on. If you forgot a small gift for kids or an office, this is the easiest one-stop option in the International terminal.
Practical move: check duty free first for alcohol and big chocolate boxes, then use Australian Way for lighter, Australia-branded items that actually say “Brisbane” or “Australia” on them. Bag what you need, then head to security with at least 20 minutes spare before boarding starts at your gate.
