Fried chicken fix before BNE International security? That’s Red Rooster.

Red Rooster sits in the public check-in hall of Brisbane International, on the departures level before security, so it works for both departing passengers and people meeting arrivals. It’s straight fast food: roast and fried chicken, burgers, wraps, chips, and soft drinks at street prices, not inflated “airport specials.” Expect mains in the AUD $10–$17 range, with snack sides like chips or garlic bread a few dollars each.

The menu follows the standard chain lineup, so if you know Red Rooster from the suburbs, you know what you’re getting here. Classic picks: a Rippa or Flayva wrap combo, a three-piece fried chicken box, or a roast chicken quarter with chips and gravy. Combos usually include chips and a drink in the $13–$18 band, which undercuts many sit-down spots upstairs in International by several dollars.

Food comes out fast: peak periods around the big outbound banks (6–9 a.m. and 7–10 p.m.) still run on typical fast-food timing, often under 10 minutes from order to pickup. Seating is limited to a few shared tables in the public area, so many people just grab a takeaway bag and head towards the International security entrance about 50–100 metres away.

Because this location is landside, you can eat here even if you’re waiting on someone from an arriving flight at International, or if you’ve just come off a Domestic flight and haven’t gone upstairs yet to re-check bags. Just remember you can’t take larger drink cups through security; finish or bin anything over 100 ml of liquid before you hit screening.

Tip: if lines at the food court upstairs look insane, factor in a 5–7 minute walk back towards the check-in hall; grabbing a quick Red Rooster combo here can be faster than queuing post-security.
