Landside until late 2026 means this Qantas lounge costs time

Terminal works have pushed the main Qantas International Lounge at Brisbane landside until at least late 2026, so lounge users now sit outside security and passport control instead of airside near the gates.

The lounge serves Qantas International passengers only, in the International terminal, and hours currently vary by day and schedule, so check the Qantas app or your booking on the morning of travel before you plan a long stay.

Because the lounge is landside, through‑ticketed passengers may need to exit immigration, use the lounge, then re‑clear security and passport control, which can easily chew through an extra 45–60 minutes before an evening long‑haul departure.

Signage is weak: FlyerTalk users report no updated signs pointing to the relocated entrance, so ask at Qantas check‑in or the international transfer desk as soon as you reach the terminal rather than hunting around upstairs.

Transit passengers without Australian entry rights are the ones who lose out: under this landside arrangement, anyone who cannot legally enter Australia may have no practical access to the lounge during the construction period.

Regulars now adjust their timing: frequent flyers try to check in as soon as desks open, often 3 hours or more before departure, to grab a short lounge visit and still have space to queue again at immigration and security.

Others go the opposite way and skip it: some experienced Qantas passengers on tighter connections report heading straight through to the airside gate area instead of dealing with two rounds of formalities for a quick drink and snack.

Communication has been rocky; one FlyerTalk member noted there were “no longer any signs in the terminal” and no staff nearby to ask, so don’t assume staff at generic information desks know the current access routine.

Practical tip: if your BNE international connection is under 90 minutes gate‑to‑gate, treat this lounge as off‑limits and prioritize staying airside; use it only on longer layovers or origin departures when you control your check‑in time.
