Gate 82 at Brisbane International pulls double duty for Air New Zealand

One lounge space near Gate 82 carries the Air New Zealand Lounge name for trans-Tasman and Pacific traffic, but it’s the same main international Star Alliance lounge rather than a separate New Zealand-only setup. You’re in the International Terminal, airside, so this is strictly for outbound international flights, not Domestic connections.

Star Alliance premium passengers use this lounge before flights from the International Terminal, and physical access is just off the concourse by the early 80s gates, with signage pointing toward Gate 82. Check-in staff at Brisbane usually hand you a printed invitation if you qualify, but your boarding pass alone should be enough at the desk.

Hours at this lounge flex around the long-haul and trans-Tasman bank, typically covering the main Air New Zealand departures window plus other Star Alliance international services out of Brisbane. If you’re on a late-night flight around the midnight push, expect the lounge to start thinning out food and drinks in the last 30–45 minutes before closing as the final departures clear the gate area.

Because this is branded for Air New Zealand and used by other Star Alliance carriers in the International Terminal, you’ll usually see a mix of passengers headed to Auckland, Christchurch or Wellington alongside long-haul customers flying further into the Pacific. Seating tends to fill first near the windows overlooking the 80–83 gate lines, so if you want a quieter corner, walk another 20–30 metres deeper into the lounge.

Food and drink in this space generally mirrors what Brisbane’s international lounges run for peak departures: a hot buffet at main mealtimes, lighter cold options between, and self-serve beer and wine. Soft drinks come from fridges rather than fountains, and coffee is either from a push-button machine or a staffed coffee point during the busiest Air New Zealand departure waves.

Walk time from central security to Gate 82 runs around 6–8 minutes at a normal pace, so don’t cut it too fine if you’re at the far end of the lounge when boarding hits “Final Call.” Aim to leave the lounge by T‑25 for standard boarding or T‑35 if you know you’re at the back of the aircraft.
