Staff parking

Airport workers use the Employee Lot, not terminal parking

The Employee Lot at Bellingham International Airport (BLI) exists as staff parking for people working in the Main terminal and on the airfield, not as a standard passenger product. The official parking guide for Bellingham only spells out public options like the Main terminal lots and references employee parking separately, with no walk time, shuttle schedule, or daily rate listed for non-staff use.

Public materials for BLI from November 2021 mention employee parking in the context of overall capacity but stop short of advertising the Employee Lot alongside the Main terminal parking areas. That’s a strong hint that access is controlled, likely tied to airport or tenant credentials rather than a pull-a-ticket setup. If you’re flying Allegiant, Alaska, or another carrier from the Main terminal, plan to use the posted public lots instead of aiming for the staff area.

No passenger-facing prices are published for the Employee Lot, while the same Bellingham parking guide clearly lists public rates for short-term and long-term parking near the Main terminal. That gap matters: if you don’t see a dollar figure on a sign or on the airport’s official parking sheet, assume this lot is not intended for drive-up travelers in private vehicles. Treat it like you would a “staff only” garage at a hospital or office complex.

Because walk distance, shuttle timing, EV charging availability, and visitor rules are not documented for the Employee Lot in any official guide, it’s risky to treat it as a backup option if the Main terminal lots look busy. One simple tip: before a peak travel weekend, check the BLI site or call the airport to confirm which lots are open to the public, and follow the roadway signs for general parking instead of turning toward any area labeled employee parking.
