T1

Two souvenir shops in all of BJX means this one matters

In T1 at Guanajuato International, Souvenir Store is one of only a couple of gift spots in the whole airport, so it stands out by default. Expect the usual Mexico basics: small handicrafts, keychains under 100 MXN, mugs, shot glasses, and region-themed trinkets tied to León and Guanajuato. Stock is shallow but colorful, and reviews call prices “reasonable” compared with stalls in Guanajuato city, not the 2–3x markup you sometimes see airside.

The shop sits airside in Terminal 1, after security, on the compact concourse used by Aeroméxico, Volaris, and United. BJX is a very small airport, so you can walk from check-in through security and down to the store in under 10–15 minutes most times of day. Hours roughly track the first and last departures, so think early morning through the final evening flights, but late-night cuts are possible once the last plane boards.

What to buy: small, packable items under 200 MXN, especially magnets, textiles, and branded mugs that won’t blow up your carry-on weight. What to skip: anything bulky like large pottery or big decorative pieces; selection is thin, and you’ll get better options and prices in town around Jardín de la Unión or León’s centro. One Skytrax reviewer specifically called the shops “reasonable,” so snacks and basic gifts won’t feel like a gouge.

Regulars who use BJX a few times a year say they arrive with a book or knitting because the terminal has only these couple of souvenir shops and not much else. They treat this store as a last-resort stop for a forgotten gift, not a planned shopping session. Watch out for very limited choice: if you care about design or artisan quality, do your main buying in Guanajuato or León and use Souvenir Store only for small top-ups.

Practical tip: grab your magnet or keychain before you sit at the gate; if your flight boards early, the store may close as soon as that last departure clears.
