Lounge 2 at BJX T1 is almost certainly VIP Lounge Bajío
Amex calls VIP Lounge Bajío the only lounge in the Main Terminal, so anything sold as “Lounge 2” at Guanajuato (BJX) T1 is almost certainly the same room under a different contract name. Priority Pass, Amex Centurion, and Mastercard listings all point to one shared space in T1, not a second physical lounge.
The lounge runs daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, covering the morning bank of Mexico City and U.S. departures plus the later evening flights to hubs like MEX and TIJ. If your flight leaves after 10 PM, you’re back to terminal seating once they close the doors.
Access is straightforward: Amex Centurion/Platinum and Priority Pass both work here, and most programs note it as being after security in T1. If you don’t have a card, staff sell a walk-up day pass for about $40 USD, which only pencils out if you’re staying more than 90 minutes and planning to eat and drink there.
Since this “Lounge 2” label causes confusion, double-check the signage for “VIP Lounge Bajío” in Terminal 1. If an app or agent prints “Lounge 2” on your access, just head to the single marked VIP lounge airside; don’t waste time hunting for a second door that doesn’t exist.
Food and drinks in similar Mexican regional VIP lounges usually mean simple cold snacks, a few hot items, and basic spirits and beer. At a $40 day pass price point, think about how much you’d realistically eat versus grabbing tacos or tortas from a landside or gate-side spot in BJX T1.
The main complaint is the mixed messaging from American Express and third-party sites. Amex spells out that this is the only option in the Main Terminal, while some booking portals list multiple “lounges,” which still route you to this same T1 room. If you’re expecting variety, you’ll only find this single shared facility.
Practical tip: Screenshot your Amex or Priority Pass lounge listing for BJX T1 before you fly; if a gate agent or contract staff use a different lounge name, you can match it to the VIP Lounge Bajío entry and walk straight there instead of debating branding at the desk.
