Northern Quarter

T1 ★ 3

When the main T1 bar is rammed, people drift here

Northern Quarter sits airside in Belfast International’s T1, just past central security and before the main pier of gates. It’s a standard airport bar/restaurant with table service and a basic pub menu, used a lot as overflow when the larger bar areas in T1 are full. Expect a 3-out-of-5 kind of stop: fine for a pint and a bite, nothing you’ll talk about once you’re on the 18:45 to Stansted.

Food leans pub‑grill: burgers, chicken dishes, and a full breakfast option in the morning, usually priced around £10–£15 for mains and less for sides. You order at the bar, give your table number, and food comes out in 15–25 minutes during normal traffic. Pints of standard lagers and ciders tend to sit around the £6 mark, with simple mixed drinks and house wine also on pour, which is typical for BFS airside.

It opens early to catch the first wave of departures, generally in time for 05:30–06:00 flights out of T1, then runs through the evening bank until the last departures clear the gate area. Seating is mostly standard tables for two and four along the terminal windows, with some high stools at the bar. Power outlets are limited, so don’t bank on charging a laptop before your 14:10 Ryanair hop.

Menu hits: cooked breakfast before 09:00, a straightforward burger with fries at lunch, and a pint if you’re killing 45–60 minutes. Skip it if you’re tight on time for a 30‑minute connection and grab a quick sandwich from one of the nearby grab‑and‑go spots instead; table service and bill payment can easily add another 10 minutes to your stop.

Tip: if the main T1 bar by your gate has a queue three deep, walk an extra 2–3 minutes towards the middle of the airside concourse and check Northern Quarter for an open table before you give up and stand.
