T1 landside newsstand with late hours

Right in Terminal 1’s check-in hall, Relay is the standard pre-security grab-and-go stop before you line up for security at BER. It’s one of the few shops you hit before you head upstairs toward the T1 departure gates, so this is your last chance for magazines or snacks if you like to arrive early.

Relay at T1 keeps airport-style hours, usually opening around the first departures of the morning and closing after the late-night flights taper off around 22:00–23:00. You’ll see the red Relay sign near the main entrance doors and check-in islands rather than tucked away by a single airline counter.

Expect typical newsstand pricing: bottled drinks around €3–4, chocolate bars and Haribo in the €2–3 range, and basic travel kits (neck pillows, earplugs, chargers) at the higher airport markup. They stock German and international press, including English-language papers and magazines alongside local titles like Bild and Der Tagesspiegel.

This T1 Relay also carries BER souvenirs and small gifts, from Berlin-branded mugs around €10–15 to keychains and fridge magnets under €5. Snacks skew mainstream—Pringles, Kinder, Ritter Sport, packaged sandwiches—so don’t come in hunting for specialty foods or fresh bakery items; those live in other T1 food spots past security.

Lines spike in the 06:00–08:00 departure rush and again around 17:00, since many passengers hit Relay just after printing boarding passes. If you only need water, grab the larger 1.5L bottles here and refill airside instead of buying two small ones later.
