Gate-side carbs in Terminal 2
Right in Berlin Brandenburg’s Terminal 2, Kamps is the standard German bakery chain doing rolls, pastries, and coffee for a quick pre-flight bite. It sits airside, so this is an option after security for Schengen departures from T2. Google ratings hover around 4.2, which is high for airport grab-and-go. Think bakery counter, not a sit-down restaurant.
Expect classic German Brötchen sandwiches, pretzels, and sweet pastries in the €3–€6 range per item. A filled roll plus a regular coffee usually lands under €10, which undercuts many café options in BER Terminal 1. Coffee is basic machine espresso and filter, not specialty third-wave stuff, but it’s consistent and hot at 6:00 in the morning when many T2 flights board.
The move here is a fresh-baked pretzel or Käsebrötchen and a medium coffee, then walk the 200–300 meters back toward your A or B gates. If you prefer sweet, the Schnecken and croissants get turned over throughout the day, and you’ll often see new trays coming out every 30–60 minutes during peak times. Portions run on the smaller side by US standards, closer to 60–80 g per pastry.
Service is counter-only and moves fast when there are three staff on during morning departures before 10:00, slower when only one person handles both orders and prep off-peak. There’s limited ledge seating nearby in Terminal 2, but many people just carry their food to the gate rows around A20–A24. Payment by card is standard, and contactless works fine for under-€25 transactions.
Tip: lines spike 30–40 minutes before big Ryanair and EasyJet departures from Terminal 2, so hit Kamps right after security instead of waiting until boarding starts at your exact gate.
