Gate-side caffeine in T1
Opens at 0500, so Café Ritazza in Terminal 1 covers the early Ryanair and easyJet bank when most places still look dark. It sits airside in T1, so this is a grab-and-go stop after security, not a landside meetup spot. Think quick coffee and a pastry before you walk to your gate, not a long sit-down meal.
With a 3.4 rating and $ price tier, expectations should sit squarely in “airport basic.” Coffee costs less than many big chains in BER, and a simple cappuccino plus croissant usually lands under €7. Food is standard: pre-made sandwiches, wraps, and pastries in the case, heated on request. Nothing here aims at gourmet; it’s the reliable caffeine cart in a uniform.
Hours run from 0500 to 2000, so late-night departures out of T1 won’t find this open after security. If you land from an evening flight into Terminal 1 around 21:00 and still need food, you’ll be walking elsewhere. During the morning peak between 0600 and 0900, lines stretch 10–15 minutes, especially when two staff cover both coffee pulls and cash handling.
Menu boards focus on espresso drinks, basic filter coffee, and a few bottled soft drinks and juices. Expect the usual latte, cappuccino, and Americano line-up, plus hot chocolate for kids. Sandwich fillings lean on ham, cheese, and salami, with at least one vegetarian option most days. If you care about coffee strength, ask for an extra shot and expect to pay roughly €0.50 more.
Practical tip: if your T1 flight boards before 0700, plan to hit Café Ritazza by 0530–0545; that’s early enough to beat the main security rush and still grab coffee without cutting it close to boarding time.
