20–30 minutes into Antalya city without touching a taxi meter

AntRay is the tram line running straight from Antalya Airport’s T1/T2/T3 into the city and Expo area, with daytime rides typically taking around 35–40 minutes to Ismetpaşa/Kaleiçi. Fares land in the $0.50–1.00 range using AntalyaKart, so this is the cheap, predictable option if you have light luggage and arrive in daylight.

The airport sits on the Antray Fatih–Expo line; one platform is signed “Expo”, the other “Fatih”. Fatih is the direction into the city, Expo is away from it. Signs at the platforms are partly in English but small, and a few reviewers admit they first rode the wrong way because they didn’t clock the two different airport stops.

Trams run roughly every 15–20 minutes through most of the day, with locals saying it feels a bit slower in the late evening compared with daytime. Miss one at night and you can easily add an extra 15 minutes of waiting before your 35–40 minute ride into town even starts.

AntRay uses the AntalyaKart system; you buy either a plastic reusable card or single-use tickets at station machines beside the airport platforms. Travellers report the English menu timing out quickly and some machines refusing large banknotes or foreign cards, so small TL bills or contactless that has worked elsewhere in Turkey helps.

Inside, cars are clean and modern, but several reviews talk about standing room only around 5–7 pm as airport passengers mix with local commuters. One UK visitor said their cheap ride into town at around 6 pm meant standing in a packed carriage with suitcases wedged by the doors.

Step-by-step from the terminals:

  • 1. From T1, T2 or T3 arrivals, follow signs for “Tram / Antray” toward the outdoor station area, about a 5–10 minute walk depending on terminal.
  • 2. At the station, find the ticket machines and buy or top up an AntalyaKart; load slightly more than your one-way fare so you’re covered for the return.
  • 3. Check the platform signs: pick the “Fatih” side for the city center, “Expo” if you’re heading to the fairgrounds side.
  • 4. When the tram arrives (every 15–20 minutes), walk a few doors down from the main entrance area before boarding; regulars say this is where you actually find space for bags.
  • 5. Tap your AntalyaKart at the validator on boarding, then stay on for around 35–40 minutes until Ismetpaşa or other central stops; announcements come in Turkish first, so watch the line map on your phone.

Practical tip: Screenshot the Fatih–Expo line map and remember “Fatih = city” before you land; it saves reloading apps on airport Wi‑Fi while you’re trying not to board the wrong side.
