Short Stay Parking at Rodríguez Ballón International Airport sits directly next to Terminal T1, so you’re about a 5-minute walk from the check-in counters. It’s a basic surface lot, signed as “Corto Plazo,” and works best for same-day trips, quick drop-offs, or picking someone up without circling the terminal access road.

The posted daily rate is S/ 30.00, charged per 24-hour period, which is reasonable for parking that close to the T1 entrance. For under an hour, the per-hour cost can add up quickly compared with rideshare, but once you pass the 4–5 hour mark, the flat daily rate starts to make sense. Payment is at the exit machines, and you’ll want some extra time in case there’s a small queue at peak hours.

Walking time from the far end of the Short Stay Parking lot to the T1 doors is around 5 minutes at a normal pace. If you park close to the pedestrian path, you’re inside the terminal in closer to 2–3 minutes. That’s tight enough that you can drop your bags in the car and still be back at arrivals before a SCL or LIM flight fully unloads.

Security for the Short Stay lot is basic but visible, with cameras and staff patrolling the area around T1 during operating hours. Lighting is decent around the terminal side rows, but if you arrive after 22:00, pick a spot nearer to the main entrance rather than the outer edge. There are no covered spaces here, so in full Arequipa sun, the car interior heats up quickly.

One practical tip: if you’re parking for more than 24 hours, compare the total at S/ 30.00 per day with a taxi round-trip before committing. For anything longer than three days, many locals park here only for departure day, then leave the car at home and use a taxi for longer trips.
