World Duty Free

T1

Gate-side prices without city tax shock

World Duty Free in T1 sits airside after security, on the main path to most international gates, so you almost can’t miss it. This is the main duty free stop at Queen Alia, not a satellite cart, so stock turnover is decent and shelves usually look full. Expect the usual liquor, perfume, cosmetics, tobacco, and standard chocolates stacked floor-to-ceiling near the central checkout zone.

Liquor and spirits run at typical duty free pricing, often a noticeable cut from Amman city shops once you factor local tax, especially on 1L Scotch and vodka bottles. Fragrance counters carry the big global brands you’d see in Dubai or Heathrow, with regular promos like “buy 2, save 25%” flagged on shelf tags. Tobacco cartons sit in a separate section with clear duty free allowances printed on signage to match regional rules.

Food and sweets skew heavily to international brands: Lindt, Toblerone, and similar names fill a long aisle, with Jordanian items like dates and packaged sweets mixed in. Expect airport markups on local gifts; a box of dates that’s 4–5 JOD in town can run closer to 8–10 JOD here. Non-food items include standard travel accessories, but nothing you can’t find at another airport shop in the region.

Best tactic: if you care about price, compare liquor or perfume here to your next stop’s duty free using your phone before heading to the gate; AMM’s free Wi‑Fi is usually fast enough near T1’s central concourse to check a couple of items quickly.
