Souvenir Shop

T1

Prices here run higher than downtown Amman’s souk stalls

This generic Souvenir Shop in T1 sits airside after security and targets anyone who skipped Rainbow Street or downtown markets. Expect the usual Jordan prints, magnets, mugs, small ceramics and regional trinkets, all with a noticeable airport premium compared with shops in Amman city. It’s fine for a last-minute gift before a Royal Jordanian or other departure, but not the place to do all your shopping.

Most items sit in the 10–40 JOD band for small gifts, with larger crafts climbing quickly. Regulars on review sites say you get better value buying Dead Sea products, textiles and artwork in town, then using the airport only to plug gaps. If you care about authenticity or want haggling-level prices, that happens in downtown, not here in T1.

Stock leans heavily on Jordan flags, camels, keychains and pre-packaged gift boxes rather than unique handicrafts. Selection is noticeably thinner than what you’ll see on Rainbow Street or in central Amman markets. Think more “generic regional souvenir wall” than curated gallery. For fragile pieces like papyrus or delicate ceramics, pack them properly before you reach airport security; one Skytrax reviewer reported staff damaging a papyrus bought in Cairo during inspection.

Watch out for: limited choice and last-call pressure near late-night departures, which run frequently at AMM. If your layover is short, skip browsing and head straight for your gate in T1; you can always grab a quick magnet or keychain here in under five minutes if boarding starts early.

Practical tip: do your main souvenir run in Amman, then budget 5–10 minutes here for a backup gift or a small extra present.
