Floor-to-ceiling ramp views make AMD Terminal 2 feel newer than T1

Terminal 2 handles all international flights at Ahmedabad plus Air India domestic departures, so Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, IndiGo and GoAir all board from here. Gates sit behind tall glass walls that look straight onto the ramp, so you can watch your 02:45 Doha or 23:55 Singapore departure taxi in while you wait. Compared with T1, the building feels more recent in design and usually a bit calmer in the late evening bank of wide-body departures.

Check-in for international flights in T2 usually opens about three hours before departure, and security plus immigration can eat 30–45 minutes in peak evening periods. Everything food-wise sits after security, so avoid arriving at the airport hungry and then wasting time at the sparse pre-security options. Once stamped out, you move into a single main departures hall with both the food outlets and most of the seating clustered near the central gate area.

On the dining side, Subway, Haldiram's, Kailash Parbat, Cafe Coffee Day, Costa Coffee, and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf all sit airside in T2. Haldiram's is the go-to for quick chaat or packaged snacks under ₹300, while Subway handles the made-to-order sandwich crowd at similar price points. For coffee, regulars split between CCD and Costa; CCD often has the shorter line, especially before the 01:00–03:00 departure pulse. If you want a safer bet on food hygiene for a long-haul, stick to hot items at Haldiram's or sealed snacks.

Lounges are dense for an Indian tier-2 city: Adani Lounge, Plaza Premium Lounge, CIP Lounge, a generic Business Class Lounge, Pranaam Lounge, and a VIP Lounge all operate in T2. Priority Pass and several credit cards typically route you into Plaza Premium or Adani. Expect basic buffet food, soft drinks, and a few hot dishes, with most lounges open into the early morning to cover the long-haul banks. Seats by the windows in these lounges line up with those same ramp views, so a 90‑minute wait with a plate of rice and curry is more tolerable here than at the gate chairs.

Retail in T2 runs through Duty Free and a cluster of branded shops, including WHSmith and Relay for books, water, and last‑minute chargers. Duty Free breaks down into liquor, beauty, electronics, confectionery, toys, fashion, smoking accessories, and a small super mart section, usually open for all international departures regardless of the hour. Prices on liquor and perfume can undercut city stores, but electronics in the dedicated electronics corner tend to run higher than online Indian pricing, so only buy if you are out of options.

Services in T2 cover the basics: a Medical Centre for minor issues, Lost & Found for baggage problems, and a Tourist Counter near arrivals for hotel and taxi queries. Pranaam also appears as a branded meet-and-assist service as well as a lounge, used by some corporates and premium passengers for smoother immigration and baggage handling. If your bag goes missing from an Air India domestic flight into T2, the airline counter and Lost & Found are both in the same arrivals zone, so keep your baggage tag handy until you exit the customs area.

Arrivals into Terminal 2 have one quirk: the walk from the aircraft stand to baggage claim is longer than many expect, as one FlyerTalk Air India review points out. From door open to reaching the carousel can take 10–15 minutes, including corridors and immigration queues, so do not promise a pickup time right at scheduled landing. Build that buffer into your car booking, and for departures, add an extra 15 minutes to your usual airport routine to account for immigration and the spread‑out layout.
