Economy Parking Lot

Budget

5–10 minutes from both T1 and T2 by foot

The Economy Parking Lot at Almaty International Airport sits within walking distance of both Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 2 (T2), so you skip shuttles and just roll your bags straight to check-in. It’s the airport’s budget option, aimed at keeping daily costs down versus closer premium bays. Signage on the access road points clearly to “Economy” parking, so watch for that label as you approach the terminal complex.

This is an open-air surface lot, so your car stays outside in Almaty’s winter cold and summer heat. Because of that, pick a spot away from large puddles or snow piles during bad weather. Lighting poles cover most rows, which helps when flights land after midnight. Entry and exit work off standard ticket barriers at the gate, so keep your paper ticket or parking card handy when you come back from your trip.

Pricing runs on a daily budget rate, undercutting the closer premium parking that sits right in front of the terminal doors. If you’re leaving the car for three or more days, the math usually favors this lot. Short overnight trips also work here if you don’t mind a slightly longer walk and saving a few thousand tenge versus terminal-front spaces.

There’s usually space available outside true peak holiday weeks, so advance booking isn’t as critical as at some larger European hubs. Still, for early morning departures around 05:00–07:00, plan to arrive at least 30 minutes earlier than you normally would, just to find a spot, walk in, and clear security in T1 or T2 without rushing.

Tip: In winter, park under a light pole and snap a photo of the pole number so you can find your car quickly after a late-night arrival into ALA.
