Ample Aircraft Parking

General aviation

Transient ramp space is rarely tight at AIZ.

Lee C Fine Memorial Airport (AIZ) leans on what it calls “generous aircraft parking,” essentially a broad transient and overflow ramp setup instead of a neatly branded tie-down product. Everything sits off the single Main terminal area, so you’re never far from the runway 14/32 action or the small terminal building. Think more open ramp than painted VIP rows: plenty of pavement, but you’ll want to know your exact spot before you shut down.

The catch: there’s no clearly documented stand-alone product named “Ample Aircraft Parking” in public FBO listings or pilot reports, just that official promise of generous parking capacity. That makes this more of a concept than a signed, fenced-off ramp. Expect flexibility on parking locations depending on traffic levels, aircraft size, and any local events around Lake of the Ozarks. If you’re flying something larger than a basic single, mention wingspan and weight when you call.

Regulars treat AIZ like any other small general aviation field: they call the airport office or FBO before arrival, confirm transient parking spots on the Main ramp, and note any temporary closures or construction. With no strong review trail and no published complaints, you’re mostly working from airport guidance and the sectional. Radio calls on the CTAF before you taxi in help line you up with the right corner of the ramp.

Practical tip: 24–48 hours before you launch, call the Lee C Fine airport contact listed in the A/FD, ask specifically, “Where do you want transient aircraft parked on the Main ramp tomorrow?” and write that instruction directly into your kneeboard notes.
