First SkyBus coaches roll out around 06:00 from AER Terminal 1
SkyBus transfer service runs fixed-route buses between Sochi International Airport (AER) Terminal 1 and key points along the coast, starting roughly at 06:00 and usually running until late evening. The service is set up as a shared shuttle, so you ride with other passengers from the same flight banks instead of paying for a solo taxi from the terminal curb.
From Terminal 1, SkyBus stops sit just outside the arrivals area, a short walk of about 100–150 meters from the baggage claim exit. Look for airport signage pointing to bus stands serving Adler and central Sochi, and confirm “SkyBus” on the vehicle placard before you board. The stands are grouped with other public buses, so check the paper or digital timetable posted at the stop for the next departure time.
Tickets for SkyBus usually price well below a metered taxi from AER, often coming in at a fraction of the 800–1,500 RUB you might pay for a cab to central Sochi. You can generally pay the driver in cash in Russian rubles, and some coaches accept contactless cards, but do not rely on cards after 22:00. Keep small bills on hand; drivers rarely make change for anything larger than 1,000 RUB notes.
Typical ride time from Sochi Airport to Adler runs about 15–25 minutes, and to central Sochi you should budget around 45–60 minutes depending on traffic on the A147 highway. In peak summer evenings and during major events at Fisht Stadium, the same road can push your bus ride closer to 75–90 minutes. Build that into your return trip to Terminal 1 so you are back at check-in at least 2 hours before domestic flights.
Inside the bus, luggage space varies by vehicle, but most SkyBus coaches at AER handle at least one medium suitcase and a cabin bag per person in the rack or at your feet. Seats are basic city-bus style without guaranteed seatbelts, and air conditioning can feel weak when the outside temperature in Sochi climbs above 28–30°C. If you land in the midday heat, aim for a window spot that opens.
One practical tip: before leaving the baggage belt area in Terminal 1, grab a quick screenshot of your destination address and any Russian-language version of it, then show it to the driver at the SkyBus stop so you know which bus line gets you closest and where to step off along the route.
