Diplomatic Lounge

T2 · /ull, , Open · /ull, , Day pass /ull, ,

Terminal 2 at ADD quietly lists a “Diplomatic Lounge.”

Terminal 2 at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport has a facility labeled Diplomatic Lounge, but there is almost no reporting from frequent flyers on T2 lounges that matches this name. That usually means a protocol space used by embassies, VIP delegations, and government officials, not a standard contract lounge you can enter with Priority Pass or a business class boarding pass.

Access is listed as invitation only in Terminal 2, with no published hours, no walk-up pricing, and no airline program listing it as a business or first class option. If you are flying Ethiopian Airlines in business out of T2, you are normally sent to Cloud Nine Lounge or ShebaMiles Lounge, not to anything signed as Diplomatic.

The airport’s own lounge information for T2 does not show a day pass price or a pay-at-the-door policy for the Diplomatic Lounge. There are also no clear gate references, only a loose mention of T2 and government use, which suggests the space may sit behind a separate security or protocol entrance rather than off a standard gate corridor.

Because there are zero recent reviews on FlyerTalk, Reddit, or common lounge blogs for a Diplomatic Lounge at ADD, you should assume there is no access through credit card lounge networks, no Star Alliance elite access, and no way to buy your way in. The lack of complaints is not a sign of quality; it usually just means regular passengers never set foot in the room.

If your printed itinerary or a government contact in Addis specifically mentions “Diplomatic Lounge – T2”, that invitation will come with instructions and escort details. Everyone else in Terminal 2 should plan on using Cloud Nine, ShebaMiles, or paid restaurants near the main Ethiopian Airlines gates, because the Diplomatic Lounge will not solve a long layover or an early check-in.

Practical tip: if an airline agent at ADD says “no, you go to Cloud Nine, not Diplomatic” at check-in, do not push back; the Diplomatic Lounge in Terminal 2 is not part of the normal lounge network and staff cannot sell you access on the spot.
