Overflow Cloud Nine space in T2 that mirrors the Star Gold lounge

Cloud Nine Lounge II in Terminal 2 runs 24/7 and effectively works as overflow for Ethiopian’s main Cloud Nine lounge, sitting alongside the Star Gold lounge in the same complex. Think near-identical layout and seating to Star Gold, but with catering aligned to the Cloud Nine side of the house.

The lounge sits airside in T2 for Ethiopian Airlines passengers, so you need an eligible Cloud Nine / business-class or status-based invitation on an Ethiopian ticket to get in. There’s no published pay-in day pass here, unlike some third-party lounges at other hubs where walk-up access runs $40–$60.

Food follows the standard Ethiopian pattern: hot dishes rotate through stews, rice and pasta, with snacks and basic desserts set out on a central buffet most of the day. Regulars say catering across the Cloud Nine spaces is slightly better than on the Star Gold side, so if you have a Cloud Nine boarding pass leaving T2, start here before you wander.

Drinks are self-serve with bottled water, soft drinks and a simple alcohol lineup rather than a long bar list. Expect a couple of beers, house wine and a small spirits selection at any given time, not a 20-bottle back bar. Coffee tends to be from machines, which beats the terminal vending setups but won’t match what you’ll get in Addis city cafés.

Seats run in long rows with standard armchairs and small side tables, pretty much a copy-paste of the neighboring lounges. Power outlets have been added through the renovated T2 spaces, but bring a Type C or Type E/F adapter and assume you may share a socket during heavy banks around midnight and early morning Ethiopian departures.

What regulars do: if Cloud Nine Lounge II feels crowded, they walk over to the main Cloud Nine or the Star Gold lounge next door, all within a few minutes’ walk inside T2. With all three open 24 hours, late-night transit passengers on Ethiopian routinely do a quick loop to pick the quietest room before settling in.

Practical tip: during the big long-haul departure banks from Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, arrive at T2 at least 2 hours before your flight and check both Cloud Nine lounges; grab food first, then move to whichever space near your gate looks calmest for a last charge and sit-down.
