Old Bazaar

Souvenirs

International

By the International security lanes, Old Bazaar is the main stop for last‑minute Turkish souvenirs before heading to passport control. It sits airside in the International Terminal, so you’re already checked in and through security when you get here. Think of it as the airport version of İzmir’s bazaars, squeezed into a compact unit near the gates.

Old Bazaar focuses on classic Turkish gift items: boxes of lokum, small packs of baklava, vacuum‑sealed Turkish coffee, Nazar (evil eye) trinkets, and basic fridge magnets with “İzmir” on them. Prices run higher than downtown Kemeralti Market; expect to pay roughly 20–40% more for sweets and simple souvenirs. On the upside, most food items come in travel‑ready packaging sized for carry‑on bags and hand luggage.

You’ll find Old Bazaar open through most long‑haul departure banks, roughly from the first morning departures until the last late‑night international flights. Staff are used to passengers paying in euros as well as Turkish lira, and card payment is standard for even small items around 100–150 TRY. If you want something under 10 euros as a quick thank‑you gift, the keychains and small Nazar charms usually fit that price point.

There’s no standout “must order” item here, but sealed Turkish delight boxes and branded Turkish coffee tins travel better than loose sweets or syrupy desserts. Skip heavy ceramic pieces unless you have space in a hard‑shell suitcase; the shelves pack them close together and it’s easy to bump something while juggling a 7–8 kg cabin bag. One last tip: take a photo of price tags before you pay, as labels sometimes sit a shelf or two away from the item you grabbed.
