Geleneksel El Sanatlari

Near the Domestic terminal concourse, Geleneksel El Sanatlari focuses on Turkish handicrafts

This small shop in ADB’s Domestic terminal leans hard into traditional Turkish design: hand-painted ceramics, nazar “evil eye” charms, and embroidered textiles line the shelves. You’re paying airport pricing, but small items like keychains and magnets usually land under 100 TRY, with mid-size bowls and plates running higher. It’s all post-security, so you can shop after clearing checks and keep an eye on boarding times.

Most shelves at Geleneksel El Sanatlari carry Izmir-style ceramics, kilim-pattern accessories, and glass evil-eye pendants, so it’s an easy one-stop for last-minute gifts. Stock skews souvenir-heavy rather than museum-grade craft, but the designs are more region-specific than what you’ll see at generic duty free. Figure on 5–10 minutes to scan the whole shop; it’s not large, so you won’t burn your layover here unless you start comparing patterns dish by dish.

Payment is straightforward: cards are accepted, and prices are tagged in Turkish lira, which helps if you’re watching a tight budget before departure. Compared to duty free next door, individual pieces often cost less than name-brand perfumes or liquor, so a 200–400 TRY spend can net a couple of decent gifts. There’s no tax refund counter attached to this spot, so handle any VAT questions at the main customs desks in the terminal.

Quick tip: take photos of the pattern you like and double-check for chips under the bright ceiling lights before paying; once you’re at the gate in the Domestic terminal, there’s nowhere close by to swap a damaged piece.
