Duty Free Store

Gate-side duty free stop at ADB

Prices here sit around the usual EU airport level, so expect mid-range tags rather than true bargains. Duty Free Store serves both International departures at Adnan Menderes and hits the standard mix: liquor, perfume, cosmetics, Turkish sweets, and tobacco. It’s fully post-security, so you only shop after passport control and security checks.

Cosmetics and perfume lines skew toward big brands, with 50 ml fragrances typically in the €60–€90 window. If you’re buying cologne or makeup on the way out, plan a quick scan instead of a deep browse; the selection is broad enough for most needs, but this isn’t a multi-floor mega-store. Staff usually run time-limited promos on at least one or two fragrance brands per week.

Liquor options cover standard 1L bottles of whisky, vodka, gin, and raki, often with twin-pack deals around €35–€45. If you’re connecting through another EU point, remember liquids in duty free bags still have to comply with transfer airport rules, so hang on to the sealed receipt pouch. Tobacco cartons sit behind the counter, priced in line with other Turkish international airports.

On the Turkish side of things, you’ll see boxed lokum (Turkish delight) and nut mixes in the €6–€15 range, sized from small gifts to family boxes. These are easy last-minute presents if you skipped the city shops in Izmir. Just check expiration dates, as airport confectionery can linger on shelves a bit longer than in town.

Tip: lines spike about 30–40 minutes before banked departures to Europe, so if your gate is close, walk through Duty Free Store as soon as you clear security, not at final boarding call.
