VIP Terminal

One short runway and two terminals keep Asau Airport simple

VIP Terminal at Asau Airport uses the code VIP, separate from the regular terminal coded REG, so check your ticket or confirmation email before you drive out. The field runs a single runway, so everything feels small-scale compared with big regional hubs in the Pacific.

VIP Terminal sits in its own small building next to the regular terminal (REG), with a separate drop-off point used by pre-arranged car services and resort shuttles. Walking time between VIP and REG is usually under 3–5 minutes, so if you get dropped at the wrong door you can still switch without stress.

This terminal runs only basic departure and arrival processing: check-in desks, security screening, and a compact waiting area near the gates tied to the VIP code. No restaurants, lounges, or shops are catalogued here, so plan to eat and shop before reaching the airport or bring snacks and a water bottle you can refill after security if a fountain is available.

Check-in and security in the VIP Terminal typically handle just one small flight at a time, so lines often move faster than at REG, but you still want at least 60 minutes before departure for any international leg and 45 minutes for domestic hops, depending on your airline’s rules. Boarding usually starts around 20–30 minutes before departure because of short walking distances to the aircraft.

Seating in the VIP Terminal waiting area tends to be limited and fairly basic, with just enough chairs for a single flight load, so if you care about a seat near an outlet you want to clear security early. With no catalogued lounge in the VIP side, any premium service you get will be airline-run at the gate rather than a separate space.

Ground transport to and from the VIP Terminal mainly runs through pre-booked cars, hotel shuttles, or local taxis that know to use the VIP drop-off area. If you arrive at REG by mistake, budget 5 extra minutes to walk your bags over to the correct terminal so you are checking in at the counter listed for the VIP building.

One tip: pack a small snack and a charged power bank, because with no listed food outlets or dedicated lounge in the VIP Terminal, your comfort depends on what you bring through the door.
