Pittsburgh Airport Parking: Every Lot, Real 2026 Rates
PIT's parking totally changed with the new terminal. Real rates for every lot — Shuttle, Terminal Lot, Garage — plus off-site options that undercut them.
I manage travel for sixty engineers, and I am convinced nine out of ten people overpay for airport parking. Pittsburgh is a fresh chance to get it right, because PIT threw out its old parking map completely. If you last flew out of here in 2024, forget what you remember — the lot you used may not exist anymore.
PIT moved nearly 10 million passengers in 2024, which makes it the busiest airport in western Pennsylvania. Then, on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, it opened a new $1.7 billion terminal and replaced the 33-year-old landside building it had used for decades. The parking got rebuilt with it. So before you follow an old habit or an old blog post, here is the current lay of the land, with real rates and honest walk times.
PIT parking just changed completely — here’s the short version
The old Short Term Garage, Long Term Lot, Economy Lot, and Extended Lot are gone as you knew them. Per the airport’s own parking page, the old Short Term Garage and parts of the Economy and Extended lots are now closed to passengers, and the old Long Term Lot plus what remained of Economy and Extended were combined into a single new Shuttle Lot. What you have today is five options: a Free Wait Lot, the Shuttle Lot, a Terminal Lot, a Terminal Garage, and the reservation-only PIT Executive Lot.
If you read nothing else: the Shuttle Lot is the cheapest and it is fine for most trips. The Terminal Lot is the walkable sweet spot — no shuttle, still cheaper than the garage. The Terminal Garage is for minimizing your walk on short trips or bad-weather days. And whichever you pick, book it 7 or more days ahead on PARKatPIT.com to get the lower “as low as” rate instead of the drive-up price. (If you are not driving to PIT at all — say you are connecting through PIT’s Concourse C — none of this applies to you.)
Every PIT lot, real rates (updated for the new terminal)
Here is the cheat sheet. Every rate below comes from PIT’s official parking page and is what’s live now. Two things to keep in mind: the “as low as” rates only apply when you pre-book at least 7 days out on PARKatPIT.com, and every posted rate excludes an 11.5% tax (2.5% school tax plus 9.0% township tax) that gets added on top.
| Lot | Walk vs. shuttle | Pre-booked (as low as) | Drive-up daily | Short-stay tiers |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free Wait Lot | Holding lot — no terminal access | — | $12/day | 1st hour free, 2 hrs $5, 4 hrs $10 |
| Shuttle Lot | Shuttle only (~10 min wait + under 10 min ride) | $8/day | $12/day | 2 hrs $5, 3 hrs $10 |
| Terminal Lot | Walkable, a few minutes on foot | $18/day | $28/day | up to 2 hrs $15 |
| Terminal Garage | Closest, covered | $28/day | $38/day | 30 min $8, 1 hr $12, 2 hrs $18 |
| PIT Executive Lot | Reservation-only, no drive-up | $35/day | not available | — |
One caution about numbers you’ll see elsewhere: when the terminal opened, CBS News quoted PIT’s director of commercial development citing slightly different figures — a $30 online / $35 walk-up garage, a $19 / $25 Terminal Lot, and an $8 / $12 Shuttle Lot. Those were opening-week rates and they have already shifted. The PARKatPIT figures above are the current ones, and on-site rates can change without much notice, so treat the airport’s own page as the source of truth on the day you book.
Free Wait Lot — for pickups, not flyers
This one is not for you if you are catching a flight. The Free Wait Lot is a holding lot: the first hour is free, then it’s $5 up to two hours, $10 up to four, and $12 for a full day, and there is no walkway into the terminal from it. Use it to wait on an arriving passenger instead of circling the arrivals curb. Nothing more.
Shuttle Lot — the cheapest option, but no walking to the terminal
The Shuttle Lot is where the savings live: $8/day pre-booked, $12/day drive-up, with short-stay tiers of $5 for two hours and $10 for three. It is also the biggest lot — the airport says the property holds just under 15,000 spaces, most of them here, served by eight compressed-gas shuttle buses.
The catch is in the name. You cannot walk from the Shuttle Lot to the new terminal. You park, wait at one of five heated shelters along the lot’s central road, and ride in. Buses come by roughly every 10 minutes, the ride is under 10 minutes, and the service runs 24/7/365 with wheelchair-accessible vehicles. It drops you on the Arrivals (middle) level at Door 5, right outside Baggage Claim. For any trip where saving money matters more than saving a few minutes, this is the default.
Terminal Lot — the walkable middle option
This is the one I’d point most travelers to. The Terminal Lot is $18/day pre-booked, $28/day drive-up, with a flat $15 for up to two hours. Its 2,800 spaces are walkable — figure a few minutes on foot to the doors — so you skip the shuttle entirely and still pay ten dollars a day less than the garage. If you want a clean park-and-walk without garage prices, start here.
Terminal Garage — closest, priciest on-site option
The Terminal Garage is the closest and most expensive on-site choice: $28/day pre-booked, $38/day drive-up, with short-stay tiers of $8 for 30 minutes, $12 for an hour, and $18 for two hours. It has 3,300 spaces and a light system to find them — blue for accessible, green for open. Covered, closest to the doors, and worth it on a short trip, in bad weather, or on any morning where minutes genuinely matter. For a week-long trip, that daily premium adds up fast, so match it to the trip.
PIT Executive Lot — reservation-only premium parking
The PIT Executive Lot runs an as-low-as $35/day and there is no drive-up option — you arrange it in advance, or you don’t get in. It’s a small, premium niche. Most travelers never need it, but if you value a guaranteed, close reserved space and don’t mind paying garage-plus money for it, that’s the trade.
Book ahead or pay at the gate? The prebooking discount, explained
Here’s the single move that saves the most money, and it’s boring: reserve on PARKatPIT.com at least seven days ahead. That’s the only way to unlock the “as low as” rates. Drive up without a reservation and you pay the higher posted price at every lot — $12 instead of $8 in the Shuttle Lot, $28 instead of $18 in the Terminal Lot, $38 instead of $28 in the Garage. That gap is pure markup for not planning. Remember the 11.5% tax rides on top of whichever number you land on.
The other way to skip paying at the gate is the PIT Express Pass, a transponder-tag system run by LAZ Parking. It works like a highway E-ZPass: you drive through a dedicated lane and it charges you automatically. In fact, if you already have an E-ZPass, you can register that device to double as your PIT Express Pass tag by bringing it to the Airport Parking office. Two things to know — it only covers on-site PIT lots, not the off-site companies, and it’s about convenience, not a discount. The pre-booking is still where the money is.
Third-party apps sell PIT spots too, and if you go that route it’s worth knowing exactly what happens at the gate when you prepay — is SpotHero legit for prepaying airport parking?
Off-site lots that undercut the airport — are they worth it?
For years, off-site lots were the obvious money play at PIT, and they still cluster within a few minutes of the airport:
- Charlie Brown’s Airport Parking — full valet with a free 24/7 on-demand shuttle, about 2.5 miles out on Flaugherty Run Road in Coraopolis, at a reserved $11/day. By its own posted comparison, it stacks that against $12 for the Shuttle Lot, $25 for the Terminal Lot, and $35 for the Garage.
- Globe Airport Parking — on University Boulevard in Moon Township, operating since 1978 and billing itself as the oldest off-site PIT lot. Its valet shuttle runs roughly every 10–15 minutes for a 10–12 minute ride, and unlike the others it will wash, detail, or even service your car while it sits parked.
- Fast Park & Relax — on Moon Clinton Road, about 5 minutes from the airport, staffed 24/7 with around 3,000 spaces, a free shuttle that picks you up right at your car, and a “Relax for Rewards” program that earns free parking days.
- The Parking Spot — indoor/covered parking at 701 Flaugherty Run Road, 24/7 with free shuttles, advertised from $13.95/day with a promo code.
Now the honest part. The math that used to make off-site a no-brainer got weaker. The Shuttle Lot at $8/day pre-booked is cheaper than Charlie Brown’s $11, cheaper than The Parking Spot’s $13.95, and you’re already on airport property. So the off-site pitch is no longer really about raw price — it’s about the extras: valet service, a car wash while you’re gone, covered/indoor spaces, loyalty rewards, or a shuttle that comes to your car instead of a shelter. If one of those genuinely matters to you, off-site can win. If all you want is the lowest number, pre-book the Shuttle Lot. One more thing on valet: handing over your keys changes who’s responsible if something goes wrong, so it’s worth understanding what actually happens if your car is damaged in an airport lot before you do it.
EV charging, accessible parking, and other things people ask about
EV charging. PIT offers free Level I EV charging, but you bring your own cable or adapter. There are 10 charging spaces in the Shuttle Lot and 33 in the Terminal Garage — roughly eight per garage level. They can’t be reserved and are first-come, first-served, so treat them as a bonus if one’s open, not a plan.
Accessible parking. Every lot has accessible and van-accessible spaces — near the shuttle shelters in the Shuttle Lot, along the walkways in the Terminal Lot, and by the elevators in the Terminal Garage. Note there is no discounted disability rate; the posted rates apply equally to everyone, placard or not.
Oversized vehicles and trailers. Don’t. Passenger vans, RVs, campers, trailers, and any commercial vehicle that needs more than one space are prohibited in all on-site PIT lots. Violators risk citations, extra fees, or towing at their own expense.
FAQ: cheapest lot, best coupon codes, and where to actually park
What’s the cheapest way to park at PIT? The Shuttle Lot, pre-booked at least 7 days ahead on PARKatPIT.com, at $8/day plus tax. Nothing on-site or off-site reliably beats it on price right now. If you want valet or covered parking instead, off-site lots like Charlie Brown’s ($11) or Globe are the next tier.
How much does it cost to park at PIT? On-site daily rates run from $12/day (Shuttle Lot drive-up) up to $38/day (Terminal Garage drive-up), with the pre-booked “as low as” rates landing at $8, $18, $28, and $35 for the Shuttle Lot, Terminal Lot, Garage, and Executive Lot. Add 11.5% tax to any of them. Short stops are tiered — as little as $5 for two hours in the Shuttle Lot, up to $18 for two hours in the Garage.
Where’s the best place to park at PIT? It depends entirely on the trip. My rule: short trip or bad weather where minutes matter, take the Terminal Garage. Most normal trips where you want to walk but not overpay, take the Terminal Lot. Multi-day trip where price wins, take the Shuttle Lot and budget the shuttle time. Just picking up an arriving passenger, use the Free Wait Lot.
Is there a PIT parking coupon code? Be skeptical. At the airport, the pre-booking discount is the coupon — there isn’t a secret code that beats booking 7+ days ahead on PARKatPIT.com. Off-site lots do run their own promo codes (The Parking Spot’s $13.95 rate is a promo price), so those are worth checking. But if a third-party site promises a dramatic “PIT parking coupon” beyond the normal pre-book rate, read the terms before you trust it.
One last note. This guide is only about the car. Once you’re through the doors, where you wait is its own decision — PIT’s lounges by traveler type covers that side. But get the parking right first, because that’s where most people quietly hand back the money they saved on the fare.
