SIM cards and plans sorted before you leave Domestic
Fido sits in the Domestic terminal at YYC, handy if you realize at the last minute that your phone plan won’t cut it for your trip. It’s a standard Fido retail spot: phones, SIMs, data plans and accessories, all run by Fido staff rather than a generic kiosk reseller. Expect typical carrier pricing, not airport markups on the actual plans, though cases and cables run a few dollars higher than in town.
Hours usually track main bank flight times in the Domestic area, with doors open from around early morning departures into the late evening rush; aim for 07:00–21:00 to be safe. Because it’s in the Domestic terminal, this is most useful before shorter Canadian hops or a same-day connection to the International side. If you’re flying out on an early 06:00 departure, don’t count on it being open for a last‑second SIM.
Plan on 10–15 minutes for a new SIM and activation, longer if you’re moving a number or dealing with device financing. Bring a passport or government photo ID; staff ask for it for new postpaid accounts and sometimes for prepaid, in line with Fido’s standard store rules. Basic prepaid data plans typically start around the CAD $30–40 mark.
Tip: If your gate is deep in the Domestic pier, swing by Fido first while you’re still near the main retail core, then head to security; lineups at boarding start about 30 minutes before departure and you don’t want to be stuck signing contracts while your group is called.
