Gate-side in YYC’s International terminal, Calgary Duty Free anchors the main departures hall

Right after security in the International terminal, Calgary Duty Free sits on the central path to the E gates, so you basically walk through it on the way to most US and overseas flights. It’s open from first departures into late-night waves, roughly 04:30 to around the last long-haul of the day, and you pay in CAD with duty-free pricing applied at the till.

Liquor and wine run through the middle of the shop, with 1L bottles of mainstream whisky, gin, and vodka usually under CAD $30, and higher-end Scotch and Canadian whisky climbing well past $100. If you want something local, look for Alberta rye and Canadian whisky sections clearly labeled along one of the main aisles near the center of the store.

Tobacco, cosmetics, and skincare sit closer to the entrance, with cartons of cigarettes, big-name makeup counters, and travel-sized skincare packs under CAD $50. Fragrances, including major designer brands, line the back walls, and you’ll see standard 100 ml bottles priced slightly under downtown department-store tags because of the duty-free rules.

There’s also a smaller snack and chocolate zone with Canadian brands like Maple syrup sweets and gift boxes under CAD $20 near the exit, plus the usual airport souvenirs with “Calgary” and “Canada” logos. Stock turns over most in the afternoon bank before transatlantic flights, so early-morning departures sometimes see shelves looking a little picked-over in specific liquors or limited gift sets.

Plan five to ten minutes here between security and your E gate; do your price checks on your phone before you line up so you’re not stuck sorting bottles at the till.
