Green Chili serves fast Indian-style plates at Calgary Airport
Green Chili sits on the pre-security public side at YYC, so it works if you’re meeting someone or killing time before check-in. It’s a basic counter-service setup, not a long sit-down meal. Expect standard mall-food-court vibes and a 3-star kind of experience rather than a destination restaurant.
The menu leans on familiar Indian dishes: butter chicken, chicken tikka, veggie curries, rice, and naan. Portions run on the generous side for an airport meal, and most mains with rice land in the mid-price range rather than steakhouse-level splurge. If you want something filling that’s not another burger or pizza slice, this is one of the few spots at Calgary International that hits that profile.
Turnover is quick during typical bank times for WestJet and Air Canada departures, so you can usually be in and out in under 20 minutes. Food comes from steam tables, which keeps service fast but can mean the chicken dries out if it’s been sitting. Ask when a tray was last refreshed; the fresher batches have noticeably better texture and spice.
Spice levels sit around “medium” by default, closer to Canadian comfort than full-on authentic heat. If you like more kick, ask them to add extra chili or choose the hotter curry of the day. Vegetarian options are usually limited to two or three pans, so glance at the line of trays before you commit, especially during off-peak hours when selection can be thinner.
Tip: if your layover is tight and you’re checking bags, grab Green Chili before security on arrival so you’re not stuck with just snacks once you head straight to your gate.
