Pickup for Desert Drivers is outside Terminal 1 arrivals

Desert Drivers is the main ride-hail option at Yuma International (Terminal 1), and pickups line up at the curb just past baggage claim. Look for the signed passenger pickup area near the single main exit; there’s no separate rideshare lot here. The airport is small, so you’re usually at the curb within 3–4 minutes of stepping off the belt.

Most Desert Drivers rides into central Yuma run about 10–15 minutes, since downtown is roughly 4–6 miles from the airport. Pricing changes with demand, but base fares around town often sit in the same range as a short city taxi ride, with extra distance quickly adding a few dollars per mile. Have your destination address ready in the app before you walk outside so your driver can spot you quickly.

YUM’s first departures often start before 06:00, and Desert Drivers availability can thin out in the 04:00–05:00 window. For early flights, request the car 15–20 minutes earlier than you think you need, especially if you’re staying more than 8–10 miles away. For late arrivals after 22:00, check the app as soon as you land; if cars look sparse, move straight to the curb so you can grab the next nearby driver.

Because Terminal 1 is shared with Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, security rules on the airport road can shift during events or exercises. Factor in an extra 5–10 minutes for the car to reach the terminal if there’s visible gate traffic on South Avenue 3E or East 32nd Street. Drivers sometimes loop through the small parking area just opposite the terminal, so watch your app map closely and be ready to walk 50–100 yards if they can’t pull directly to the main curb.

Tip: when you book Desert Drivers back to YUM, tell the driver “commercial terminal, main entrance at Terminal 1” and double-check that your dropoff pin is set on the north side of the field, not inside the restricted base area.
