F.C. “Frosty” Braden Passenger Terminal

2 airlines

Terminal 1 hosts 2 airlines.

Two airlines, one tiny building

All American Eagle and United Express flights at Yuma run out of the single F.C. “Frosty” Braden Passenger Terminal, so check-in, security, and gates all sit within a short walk of each other. The building shares the airfield with Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, but the civilian terminal operates as one compact public space. Think small regional bus depot scale, not a multi-terminal maze.

Security here usually takes just a few minutes because there are only a handful of departures on the board at any time. Reviews on Wanderlog mention “quick and painless” screening, helped by the low passenger volume and single checkpoint. Most flights board from the same small gate area, so you’ll likely move from curb to gate in under 20 minutes during normal conditions.

Inside Terminal 1, the public side stays simple: a couple of check-in counters for American Eagle and United Express, basic seating, restrooms, and standard TSA screening equipment. There are no escalators or long concourses to deal with, just one straightforward path from ticket counter to X-ray to gate chairs. If you land and head to baggage claim, it’s only a short walk from the gate area to the single carousel.

Food options are not catalogued for the Frosty Braden Terminal, and you should not count on branded restaurants or bars like you’d see at PHX or SAN. Plan on eating before you get to YUM or bringing something through security that fits TSA’s rules. Vending machines and very limited grab-and-go are the most you should expect during early-morning and late-evening departures.

There are no listed lounges, airline clubs, or Priority Pass spaces anywhere in the Yuma passenger terminal. That means no dedicated workspace with free drinks, showers, or quiet rooms. Power outlets around the gate seating can be scarce in older regional terminals like this, so bring a charged battery pack if you need to work on a laptop during a delay.

Retail is also minimal at YUM, with no catalogued shops for magazines, travel gear, or souvenirs in the Frosty Braden building. If you like having a bottle of water and a snack at the gate, pick those up in town before arriving at the airport. The upside: with only one small departure lounge and a single baggage claim, you never spend more than a few minutes walking around looking for anything.

Curb access sits right outside the terminal doors, so rideshares, taxis, and private pickups can pull up within steps of check-in and arrivals. The small size of the operation means drop-off 60 to 75 minutes before an American Eagle or United Express flight is usually enough, even on peak days. Tip: if you’re checked in on your phone and traveling carry-on only, showing up about 45 minutes before departure here often still gets you through security and to the gate with time to spare.
