Biangbiang Noodles

T3

Biangbiang noodles are everywhere in Xi’an, but this T3 shop is oddly undocumented.

In Terminal T3 at Xi'an Xianyang International, "Biangbiang Noodles" shows up on some airport maps and blogs, but recent travellers mostly talk about generic noodle counters instead. Treat the name as a category more than a guaranteed brand sign. You’re in Xi’an, though, so hand-pulled, belt-thick noodles in chili oil are easy to find on T3’s main departures level after security.

Plan on paying around 30–45 CNY for a basic biangbiang bowl in T3, roughly in line with other mainland airport noodle shops. Expect menus with pictures, a few topping choices like egg, potato, or beef, and self-service condiments with chili and vinegar. Cards tied to UnionPay usually work; have at least 50 CNY cash or mobile pay (Alipay/WeChat) ready as backup.

Most noodle spots in T3 open early, around 06:00, and run to at least 21:00, matching domestic departure banks. If your flight leaves from a T3 domestic gate, you’ll find noodle stalls along the central food strip between security and the mid-40s gate range. For international flights from T3, options thin out near the high gates, so eat before you walk down to the end of the pier.

Ordering is fast: expect a 5–10 minute wait from ticketing at the counter to a steaming bowl on your tray. Spice levels skew higher than chain-lunch noodles in Shanghai or Beijing, so ask for “少辣” if you want the chili dialed back. Portion sizes are big; one bowl usually feeds one hungry adult without needing extra sides.

Practical play: give yourself 20 minutes between clearing T3 security and boarding time to find a noodle counter, order one bowl, eat, and still reach a gate like 36 or 52 without rushing.
