Terminal 5’s all-day Domestic VIP Lounge is the wildcard

Terminal 5 at Xi’an Xianyang is still new territory, and the Domestic VIP Lounge runs essentially 24 hours, posted as 00:00–23:59. Access is by airline invitation only, so you’ll usually see passengers on full-fare or higher cabin domestic tickets getting pulled in by ground staff. If you’re on a codeshare from T5, ask at check-in; access rules can differ by airline at the same lounge door.

This lounge sits airside in Terminal 5’s domestic area, so you clear security first, then head toward the airline VIP signage rather than following the Priority Pass logos for the international lounges in T5 and T3. You won’t find it in most global lounge apps, which mainly list the International First Class Lounge. Expect a more airline-driven setup: think check-in desk verifying your boarding pass and invite, not credit card swipes.

Food details in T5’s domestic facility are still thin, but based on similar domestic VIP spaces at XIY T2 and T3, you’re likely looking at light snacks, instant noodles, and simple hot items during core departure waves from about 07:00 to 22:00. Don’t bank on a full meal; treat anything beyond bottled water, tea, and coffee as a bonus and plan to eat in the main terminal if you have a longer layover.

Seating in XIY’s newer lounges usually means rows of armchairs with side tables and a few work counters with outlets. Expect Chinese-style power sockets first, with some multi-standard plugs along the walls; if you’re coming off an international leg into T5, keep a universal adapter handy. Wi‑Fi in T5 lounges typically runs off the airport’s main network, which means you may need an SMS code tied to a mainland China mobile number.

Because this lounge is airline-invite only, prices aren’t published and day passes are rare. If a ground agent offers you access against a fee, get the exact number in RMB before you agree and compare it to your remaining time at the gate. For a 30-minute sit and one bottle of water, buying something near your gate in T5 is usually better value.

One tip: if you’re departing from T5 and think you qualify, ask about the “Domestic VIP Lounge” at the airline check-in counter, not at generic airport information; the airline agents control the invitations and know on that day who they’re sending upstairs.
